Eight questions to ask if your asthma doesn't get better
Asthma that doesn't get better, but instead sends you back to the emergency room with wheezes and coughs, can be very frustrating. Instead of getting discouraged, the American Academy of Family Physicians suggests that you ask yourself these questions and discuss them with your doctor to help get your symptoms under control:
1. Is something in my environment triggering asthma?
2. Is something in the workplace triggering it?
3. Am I taking my medicine exactly as my health care professional intended?
4. Am I using my inhaler the right way?
5. Am I taking the right medicines?
6. Should I learn more about managing asthma?
7. Should I use a mini-peak flow meter to keep track of my asthma?
8. Is my disease really asthma, or something with similar symptoms?
