Helpful resources
A mother of a child with asthma started the
llergy & Asthma Network of Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA) to offer a refreshing, new approach to living with these conditions. The network's Web site at
www.aanma.org is a great resource for adults and children.
After struggling to cope with her daughter's severe asthma and allergies, AANMA president Nancy Sander founded the organization in 1985. Today AANMA is a national nonprofit network of families whose desire is to overcome, not cope with, allergies and asthma. The shortest route to that goal is knowledge, so AANMA produces accurate, timely, practical, and livable alternatives to asthma suffering.
AANMA reaches families around the country with medical news, emotional support and practical strategies. The organization offers monthly award-winning publications as well as discounts on educational books, videos and medical devices. In 2001, AANMA launched an innovative new Web site at www.aanma.org featuring Breatherville, USA™, an online town where learning about allergies and asthma is a positive experience. Bilingual staff members answer AANMA's toll-free helpline Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time (800-878-4403).
