Last Updated: Sept. 1, 2003

When you have neck or back pain, normal activities—walking, bending, reaching, sleeping—can become agonizing. Some people with neck or back problems may experience persistent weakness, numbness, or tingling in their arms or legs. Other symptoms also may indicate a back or neck problem. The majority of adults will experience neck or back pain at some time in their lives. Some people live with chronic pain.

If a spine-related disorder is affecting the quality of your life, it’s important to find the right medical professional to diagnose and treat your problem. But where do you begin? Finding the right treatment for back or neck disorders can be confusing. Will you be bounced around from one health care facility to the next because your problem wasn’t evaluated or treated successfully?

Now there’s a common starting point for people with back and neck problems. The Spine Center at Columbia St. Mary’s brings together a team of medical professionals who specialize in disorders of the back and neck. The result: a streamlined approach to evaluating and treating your problem.
