Columbia St. Mary’s is Dedicated to Transforming Health Care
Posted: Nov. 1, 2007
All three Columbia St. Mary’s Hospitals have achieved Top 100 Hospitals national status over the last few years. Most recently, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Milwaukee was selected for the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: National Benchmarks for Success, 2006 award in the Teaching Hospitals category. It was one of five Wisconsin hospitals ranked among the top 100 hospitals in the nation, and the only hospital in southeastern Wisconsin.
Each of the three Columbia St. Mary’s Hospitals is accredited as a Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The three hospitals are among only 16 hospitals in Wisconsin to receive this distinction, which recognize the Chest Pain Centers for their superb quality of care.
All three Columbia St. Mary’s Hospitals have received Primary Stroke Center Certification by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Hospital Organization. Assessing a stroke patient early makes treatment more effective.
New building projects focus on quality care
Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee recently opened a state-of-the-art patient bed tower and new medical office building. In the hospital, the new rooms are private and larger than the typical patient room and they look onto the surrounding natural wetlands.
The Ozaukee Hospital expansion project includes principles of evidence-based design, a concept that demonstrates how architectural and design elements improve patient outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Columbia St. Mary’s is building a new hospital on Milwaukee’s east side that also encompasses evidence-based design. When it opens in 2010, it will be one of the most advanced hospitals in the country. Also, the new Cancer Center on Lake Drive will provide high quality care and services in a setting that features calming views of Lake Michigan.
Recently opened on the hew hospital campus is the five-story medical clinic-retail complex, Prospect Medical Commons. Medical specialties include family practice, OB/GYN, pediatrics, surgery, neurology, cardiology and gastroenterology. On-site services include a lab, digital radiology, CT, bone density, ultrasound and mammography.
