Heart and Stroke Patients Cared for in Ozaukee County
Robert Huxley, M.D., Interventional Cardiologist, Columbia St. Mary’s

Residents of Ozaukee County and nearby communities continue to benefit from full-service cardiovascular care at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee. The program was expanded in 2005 to offer catheterization services, heart bypass and valve surgery. And we’re staffed by the expert, nationally recognized Columbia St. Mary’s heart team.
In addition, Ozaukee cardiovascular services include emergency cardiovascular care, intensive care and cardiovascular rehabilitation services.
Since fall of 2005, more than 1,200 catheterization procedures (diagnostic, stents, angioplasties and pacemaker implants) have been performed. And we’ve completed more than 120 heart surgeries.
Having these services available in Ozaukee County is critical to providing the best possible care to the community. When it comes to heart and stroke care, the longer an affected artery is closed, the more heart muscle or brain damage can occur. As an Accredited Chest Pain Center and a Certified Primary Stroke Center, we have in place the staff, protocols and treatments to provide our patients with a quick and effective response.
Patients in Ozaukee County facing surgery appreciate having us in their community. They can receive cardiovascular services without the need to transfer to a Milwaukee hospital. It’s convenient because patients don’t have to travel miles to our other facilities. That’s especially important for our older patients and their families.
Columbia St. Mary’s is committed to providing comprehensive cardiovascular care services in Ozaukee County.
